Oyo Opens Flyover For Traffic
The Governor of Oyo State Abiola Ajimobi says the Mokola flyover would be opened for use on Tuesday after the formal inauguration of the multi-billion project.
Other projects slated for inauguration on the same day include, the ultra-modern motor park at Podo and the new business complex at Scout Camp, Molete, both in Ibadan, the state capital.
The governor, who spoke in Ibadan at the end of the pre-inauguration tour of some projects, also pledged that more developmental projects were underway in the next two years.
“ We are now in a phase of consolidation; our people should expect bigger things; what we are witnessing now is a new-improved Ibadan and this is also being replicated in other major towns in Oyo State.
“In Oyo State, we are enlightened people; we don’t want to play the old chop-I-chop politics.
“ Our own politics is politics of development. You all can see the turn-around of Ibadan and other places without taking a dime as loan from anybody or organisation,’’ he said.
The governor, who described the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, as his role model, said that his administration would ensure the modernisation of the state in all ramifications.
“We are the father of modern Oyo State. When we came in, we had a rural Oyo State. But we are now urbanising the state. We are now joining the comity of states that are known for development.
“When Chief Obafemi Awolowo started, he changed the whole Western region.
“ Now we are restoring, transforming and repositioning Oyo State to a modern state. All we want to do is to leave Oyo State better than we met it,’’ he said.
The governor assured the people of Apete that the Ijokodo-Apete Road currently undergoing reconstruction would be dualised while another neighbourhood market would be sited at Eleiyele area.
