A non-government organisation, Consensus Democratic Advancement, Rivers State chapter, has condemned the actions of five lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly who have continued to criticise the decision of Governor Chibuike Amaechi to challenge his suspension from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in court.

The coordinator of the group, Comrade Bethel Oko-Jaja, who condemned the action of the lawmakers recently in Port Harcourt, called on the critics of the governor, including the five lawmakers to shun mischief and blackmail while and criticised unconstitutional suspension of Governor Amaechi from PDP.

He commended Governor Amaechi for challenging his suspension from PDP in court, saying that the suspension of the  governor from the party was unconstitutional and not in accordance with the constitution of the party.

“We must look at issues like this properly, before we make any criticism. Governor Amaechi has the right to go to court, if he thinks his fundamental human rights  have been breached.

“And of course, the suspension is not in accordance with the constitution of PDP, therefore, he is right to seek redress in the court of competent jurisdiction.

“He has done the right thing, let the court decide whether the suspension of Governor Amaechi from PDP was right or wrong,” Comrade Oko-Jaja said.

Comrade Oko-Jaja, who was the former president of Youth Council of Nigeria (YCN), Rivers State chapter, called on Rivers  people, including youths, to ensure they were not deceived to undermine the existing peace and security brought about by Governor Amaechi-led administration for sustainable development in the state.

He further called on security agencies to note that their assignment to the society was to hope on every common person to live without fear of harassment or intimidation, urging the security agencies to ensure that they were not deceived by politicians.

It would be recalled that five members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have been making inflammatory criticism over the recent decision of the state Governor , Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi to challenge the step taken by the PDP National Working Committee in suspending him from the party without recourse to due to process and the party’s constitution.
