Monarch Decries Neglect Of Community School
The Eze-elect of Apu-Ukwu community in Isialangwa South Local Government Area of Abia, Mark Nwafor has appealed to the government to assist the community to renovate its only secondary school.
He said in Umuahia that the school, Ovungwu Secondary School in Umuoba, was in a deplorable condition.
Nwafor said every part of the school’s structure was dilapidated, and that the school’s condition got worse with the rainy season which began recently.
“Teachers and students are passing through difficult times in that school, and unfortunately it is the only one we have,’’ he said.
The monarch-elect therefore called for the state government’s quick intervention “to alleviate the plight of the teachers and students’’.
Nwafor also lamented the poor state of the road leading to the community, saying “our road is in a deplorable state and needs urgent government attention’’.
He said motorists were experiencing serious difficulties plying the road as their vehicles usually get stuck on the road during rainfall.
Nwafor also sought government’s assistance in the provision of fertiliser and other agricultural inputs to farmers in the area at subsidised rate to boost their output.
“My people are mainly agrarian by profession, and we have the capacity to feed the state if given the necessary government support,” he said
