The National Treasurer of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Hon. Kenneth Kobani has dumped the party.

Kobani said he left the party due to the out come of a meeting held to harmonise issues in the proposed All Progressive Congress (APC).

The one-time commissioner for finance in Rivers State said his decision was taken after due consultations with members of his constituency over the outcome of the said meeting held in Lagos last Tuesday, where the views expressed were different in form and character from the ideals of the ACN where he served as a top officer.

According to him, “after the conclusion of our meeting of 24th June 2013, which was convened to harmonise the distribution of interim officers, of the proposed APC, I had cause to discuss the outcome with my constituents.

Continuing, he said: “the outcome of my consultations is that they expressed very serious concern that the proposed party is completely different in form, character and orientation from the ideology of the ACN of which I am a member and its national treasurer, especially in so far as the proposed party has a clear ethno-religious slant and does not take into account the secularity and geo-political realities of the very complex Nigeria State”, he said.

However when contacted the Chairman of ACN in Rivers State, Mr. Esuku M. Esuku, said the former national treasurer submitted his resignation letter to the national chairman and that they are waiting for the national directive.

Esuku wished the former national treasurer goodluck in his future political endeavours.
