Acting Director of Sports in Imo State, Mrs Chizotam Aretola, has  predicted victory for Nigeria as the country prepares for the FIFA Confederations Cup encounter with Tahiti today in Brazil.

Aretola made the remark during an interview with newsmen in Owerri.

He said that his prediction was based on the recent impressive outing of the Super Eagles in their World Cup qualifiers.

Aretola, who was a one-time Captain of the National Volleyball team, applauded the Super Eagles’ Chief Coach, Stephen Keshi, for adopting tactical formations in most of the team’s matches.

She said given the pace at which the Nigerian team was moving, it had the chances of winning the cup.

The acting director said that Eagle’s players had demonstrated more commitment in their various matches since the appointment of Keshi as Chief Coach.

He urged Keshi not to relent in talent hunting, especially in the local clubs.

In another development, the Commissioner for Sports, Mr. Kenneth Emelue, has applauded Heartland FC of Owerri over its recent 2-0 victory against Nasarawa United FC.

He expressed confidence in the ability of Heartland to win this year’s Premier League.

Heartland, who had topped the league table, may have suffered a decline after it lost two consecutive matches to Rangers International of Enugu and El-Kaneni FC of Maiduguri.

However, the club’s mid-week victory against Nasarawa Utd brought it to the third position on the league table.
