Hardwork Pays, Ikuru Assures Civil Servants
Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, has admonished civil servants to take their work seriously in order to be rewarded by God and man.
Engr. Ikuru gave this admonition,during a send-forth party in honour of the outgoing Director of Administration in his office, Sir Nnamdi Okpu, in Government House, Port Harcourt.
The deputy governor noted that “Mr. Okpu is a man who goes the extra mile in discharging his duties even when he is not paid for the extra time,” stating that he feels sad letting him go owing to his commitment, hardwork and dedication to duty,
He advised the outgoing director of administration, as an ambassador of the Deputy Governor’s Office, to keep blazing the trail of integrity and hard work which he had used to improve the quality of administration in his office.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s Office, Evangelist Eddy Oloko, stated that the event was organised to “give honour to whom honour is due,” reiterating that Okpu had contributed immensely to the growth of his office.Oloko added that “he deserves to be recognised as a qualified administrator in the civil service,” calling on civil servants to render quality service wherever they find themselves.
Speaking, the Director of Boundary Matters in the Deputy Governor’s Office, Mr. ThankGod Ekine, noted the cordial relationship enjoyed by the staff during the days of the outgoing director, enjoining Mr. Okpu to sustain the values that endeared him to the staff and other directors, praying God to sustain His mercy on him in his new place of assignment.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor on Media, Mr. Soibi Dabibi, thanked Mr. Okpu for his understanding and support for the staff of the office, praying God to take him to greater heights.
Responding, Mr. Okpu, who acknowledged that “the end is always better than the beginning,” thanked the deputy governor, whom he described as “a man of ideas and a good listener”, for his unflinching support during his sojourn in his office, stating that he was overwhelmed by the show of love he had received.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
