The airport Car Hire Association of Nigeria (ACHAN), has been told to brace up and be prepared to key into the innovations being introduced in Port Harcourt airport.

Regional General Manager (RGM), South-South/South-East, Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, Mrs Ebele Okoye, gave the advice while flagging off the screening exercise for car hire operators in the airport.

The exercise which was put in place by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is to ensure that operators of car hire in the airport use neat and efficient vehicles for their operations.

Mrs Okoye stated that only vehicles that met all the conditions set for qualification for registration would be given clearance to operate in the airport.

She told the operators that the cars they brought for inspection must be the type that are presentable, neat, comfortable and would make those who would use them proud, not only of the airport but Nigeria.

The Regional General Manager said the era of using old, rickety and smoking vehicles for car hire in the airport is over and the airport authority would no longer allow such vehicles to operate because they do not add value to the rising profile of the airport.

Mrs Okoye noted that as the airport is transferring into a world class standard with the state of the art facilities, vehicles that must be used to convey people in and out of the airport must meet world class standard too.

She urged members of the association to be courteous and security conscious as well as ensuring that their passengers were and handled with utmost respect.
