Federation Budgets: Coach Makes Case For Early Approval
Coach of Ondo State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA), Dotun Omoniyi, has appealed to the National Sports Commission (NSC) to approve budget proposals by federations to enable them to plan their programmes.
Omoniyi told newsmen in Lagos that delays in attending to such proposals usually put the proposed programmes in disarray.
“Success is a product of early and good preparation which entails NSC’s rapid response to proposals forwarded to it to enhance preparation by the sports federations.
“The truth is that delay in the responding to such proposals will definitely affect athletes’ preparations which will also reflect on their performance at major competitions.
“Athletes are always happy and proud to fly the country’s flag in international competitions and so should be given encouragement to come out victoriously,’’ he said on telephone.
Omoniyi said that federations always had their national and international activities in the annual schedule and should also prepare and send their proposals to the NSC early enough.
He said that government was willing to give them the necessary support to succeed.
“I know the journey so far in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has not been easy, but with the resilient spirit in the team, the sky will be the limit,” Al-Makura said.
He assured them that the issue of their welfare, especially sign-on fees and allowances would be adequately addressed.
“My greatest desire is to see the club play in continental competitions next season. It will be difficult but very possible with hard work and determination,’’ he said.
