Emohua Benefits From Senator’s Free Medicare Scheme

As part of his efforts to ensure gord health of the people, the Senator representing Rivers  East  Senatorial District Senator George Thompson Sekibo has embarked on a free medical programme across the various local government areas of the Senatorial district.

Co-ordiantor of the Senator, George Thompson Sekibo Annual Free Medical Outreach, Hon. Kelvin Agbam  said in an interview in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers state, Monday that Senator George Sekibo decided to carry out the free medical programme to positively touch the lives of the people, especially the less privileged people in the senatorial district.

According to Agbam, many people in the rural communities don’t have the opportunity of going to the hospitals in the urban area.  positing that the Hon Senator has done it before and would continue to do it as an annual programme for the people.

He disclosed that this year’s  exercise started in Ogu/Bolo local government area in May 20, 2013 where a total of 750 patients were recorded, within one week. The second local government was Okrika where about 500 patients were also treated of different ailments including typhoid and malaria while those with hernia were operated and discharged,” he said.

He affirmed that in Emohua Local Government Area, the medical team recorded 76 patients on the first day of administration,  pointing out that after Emolga, the medical team would move to Ikwerre, Etche, Omuma, Obio/Akpor, and lastly Port Harcourt local government areas.

He enjoined other representatives of the people and political office holders to emulate Senator George Sekibo  Festure.

In his comments, medical officer representing the key of large health foundation and medical officer at the medical programme centre, Dr Ime.

Imaha commended Senator George Sekibo for taking health care to the people at the rural communities  even as he opined that the medical programme is a success because, many people were coming to benefit from it. Meanwhile, some of the beneficiaries of the free medical programme, in Emohua such as Brother Special Ogbonna Anele, Mr Anthony Egeonu and Agatha Chukwu expressed gratitude to the senator for providing free medical programme for the people at the rural communities.

Saying that the people of the district would always support him in his  political endeavour. They prayed God to give him more strength wisdom and resources to sustain he tempo.
