The Edo State Government has set up a four-member Commission of Enquiry to investigate the cause of the fire incident that raised the state Ministry of Higher Education.

Governor Adam Oshiomhole, who inaugurated the commission in his office in Benin last Friday,  urged  the commission to investigate and establish the remote and immediate cause of the inferno.

He also advised them to determine items destroyed as well as identify those responsible for the act. This, he said, became necessary with a view to knowing if the incident was a sabotage or due to natural cause.

The governor also called the commission to proffer suggestion to forestall a reoccurrence.

The inferno, which raised the office complex of the ministry, occurred on June 12. According to government sources, the fire also touched archive section of the ministry with greater degree of destruction.

Justice Roland Amaize is the Chairman of the commission with Osagie Obayuwana, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr P.T Mustapha and Stephen Omoruyi, as members.

Responding,  Amaize assured the state government that the commission would work assiduously to unravel the cause of the fire.
