Court Dissolves Marriage Over Husband’s Waywardness
An Ilorin Area Court on Thursday dissolved the four years-old marriage between Tawal Ibrahim and Lawal Lamidi, because of Lamidi’s waywardness.
Tawal, 32, who resides at Amoyo Area of Ilorin, had earlier prayed the court to dissolve her marriage to Lamidi, because of his ‘unbearable’ lifestyle.
The petitioner told the court that her husband was fond of attending night clubs at weekends and ‘parading’ different ladies.
“My husband prefers spending money on his female friends instead of his wife,’’ she said, adding that he keeps late night and did not have time for her and their only child.
Tawal said that the marriage, contracted in 2009, produced one female child, Taofikat.
“My lord, I want an end to this marriage because I cannot cope with my husband’s waywardness anymore,” she said.
The respondent, who did not object to the prayer of his wife, said she was free to go and try another man.
“My wife is too jealous and hot tempered and because of this I do not reckon with her anymore,” he said, and urged the court to grant her request without any claim.
The presiding Judge, Mr Ibrahim Abdulquadri, dissolved the marriage, and issued a certificate of divorce to the plaintiff.
