The Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Abe says those working against the peace and progress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state do not mean well for President Goodluck Ebelle Jonathan.

Senator Abe said this last Monday when media practitioners from the Rivers South-East Senatorial District paid him a courtesy visit in Port Harcourt.

Senator Abe said the crisis in the state branch of the party would not have been allowed to go beyond the level it was presently, if they wished the government of President – Jonathan well, no matter the provacation.

“I want to say it clearly for people to hear, I had said it before, and I want to say it again. Those who are working against peace in PDP, do not mean well for  President Jonathan, if the people mean well, they would not allow the crisis that is taking place in the party to take place, no matter the provaocation”, he said.

He said, PDP had always handled issues as family affairs, regretting that the present crisis was not  handled that way.

Abe advised all those who had issues within the PDP to note that the party as a democratic institution must be respected by the members, saying PDP does not belong to “anybody.” He insisted that every member has right beyond what few persons would sit down to do and take away the rights of any member, which is impossible.

Senator Abe urged the party’s stakeholders to go back to the way PDP handled its problems, and jettison force, violence and use of militants to demonstrate on the streets under the Nigerian police protection.

He frowned at the way the crisis was handled by some aggrieved PDP members, warning that it might give impetus to insecurity in the state if those sponsoring militants to protest on the street of Port Harcourt were not cautioned.

Senator Abe assured that the future of PDP was bright, saying that all that was needed was for party leaders to look back at the way PDP does things and do them right.
