2014 W/Cup Qualifier: S’ Eagles Target Victory In Namibia, Today
After securing maximum points in Kenya last week, courtesy of a lone goal victory over the Harambee Stars in match four of group four qualifying series for Brazil 2014 World Cup, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will today in Windhoek, Namibia seek to consolidate with another victory.
It is the penultimate match of the group series and the Super Eagles ought to win to all but guarantee selves the only ticket available in group F for the final qualifying stage.
Currently, Nigeria leads the group with eight points, two ahead of Malawi, who also play Kenya today. A victory for Nigeria over Namibia will take the Eagles’ points haul to 11 and regardless of what happens between Malawi and Kenya, today, a draw in the next home match against Malawi will be enough for Nigeria.
Fate seems to have taken sides with the Super Eagles as a result of the confusion in Namibia’s camp following the resignation of their coach on Sunday.
But Coach Stephen Keshi and his wards must remain focused and approach the match with the seriousness it deserves.
The present crop of Super Eagles have shown that they can raise their game when needed. They are expected to exhibit the same attitude and approach they showcased against Kenya in today’s game.
Once again, Brown Ideye, Joseph Akpala, Ahmed Musa are expected to lead Super Eagles attack, while new entrants, John Ogu and Benjamin Kayode will add further pep to the team’s play.
Namibia’s ability to hold Malawi to a goalless draw last week is an indication that they should not be taken for granted.
Overall, the Super Eagles are expected to win this one an head to Brazil for the FIFA Confederation Cup on a positive note.
