Union Flays FG On IPPIS Implementation
The National Union of the College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) has kicked against the federal government forceful implementation of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) without due consultation with the stakeholders and the union leadership.
The National President of the Union Comrade Emmanuel Nkoro stated this in a statement issued after the union meeting recently at the Federal College of Education Akoka Lagos.
Comrade Nkoro said the union is looking into the challenges facing the system and prefer solutions on how to safeguard the interest of its members against government ‘s unfavourable policies.
He said other challenges faced by the union include the reluctance of the government to respect and implement as regards good condition of service, appropriate salary structure and the 65 years retirement age.
Comrade Nkoro said the union refused the policy and would not give in to government’s plan to experiment such a policy on colleges of Education in the country.
The Labour leader said the union has kicked against the new policy system and has vowed to challenge its implementation.
The union boss threatened that the union would down tool if government goes ahead with the policy.
He called on the government to stop the further harassment of the union members.
The union president said the union will not relent until its needs met by the government.
He appealed to the government to respect law and keep security agencies abreast on the current trends in security management.
