New Police Boss Assumes Duty In Enugu

A new commissioner of Police has been posted to the Enugu State command of the Nigeria police Force.

He is Abubakar Adamu Mohammed already taken over from  Tonye E. Ebitibituwa, who is  now the new Commissioner of Police,  Bayelsa state command.

According to a statement issued in Enugu on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, the new police commissioner  had  served in INTERPOL Headquarters in Lyon, France as a specialized officer in Economic and financial Crime Directorate.

While there, he rose to become the first black African to be Assistant Director in INTERPOL-FRANCE and subsequently became the first African to be a director in the organization.

According to the PRO, Mohammed was also the Director of Nigeria Police Peace Keeping Directorate, adding that he had served as Deputy commissioner of police in Ekiti state and in Kaduna as DCP in charge of state Criminal and investigations Department from where he proceeded to Enugu as a Commissioner of police.

The newly posted commissioner of police, Amaraizu went on.  “He is soliciting for the partnership of all relevant stakeholders in the state in the business of security to ensure a crime free state”.

The commissioner of police, the statement added, also promised to maintain the cordial relationship already existing between members of the press and the state police command.
