Man, 26, In Court For Rape

A 26 year-old man, Solomon Peter, has been arraigned before a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court presided over by Emmanuel C. Woke for  alleged rape offences.

The accused person is standing trial on two count charge of conspiracy and unlawful carnal knowledge before Chief Magistrate  E. C. Woke.

The prosecuting police officer, Sergent Aaron Nsirim told the court that the accused person on 24th April, 2013 and others at large at Timber Market Village, Mile 3, Diobu in Port Harcourt within the jurisdiction of Port Harcourt magisterial district did conspire among themselves to commit felony, to wit: rape.

The prosecutor further alleged that the accused person and others now at large in the same state and place in the afore said magisterial district did attempt to have unlawful carnal knowledge of one Barikisa Mikila without her consent, thereby committed an offence punishable Under Section 516 A(1) and 359 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 11 Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.

The police prosecutor further told the court that the accused person had serial rape cases against his name  and had be warned not to indulge  in the act again.

The presiding Chief Magistrate, E.C. Woke remanded the accused person in prison custody and adjourned the matter to June, 7 2013 for mention.
