LG Boss Donates Music Bands To Schools
The Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Dr Godwin Abonyi, has presented music bands to the 72 primary schools in the area.
Abonyi presented the bands at the counicl headquarters in Obollo-Afor as part of activities marking this year’s Children’s Day celebration.
He said that the bands served many purposes in primary schools, including sounding a warning to pupils when they were late to school as well as improving on their skills in music and march past.
He said that the essence of the celebration was to demonstrate to the children that people in leadership had feelings for them.
The chairman said that the chairmen of the 17 local councils in the state were collaborating with the state government to tackle the decadence in the primary schools.
He said that the collaboration would turn the primary schools in the state into model learning centres in the next two years, explaining that a blueprint for the transformation was already being implemented.
Abonyi also praised the teachers in the local government for the consistent improvement in the outlook of their pupils but warned them to desist from truancy.
He said that government officials at different levels would be sent to the schools and health centres from time to time to monitor them for effectiveness.
Students of secondary schools and primary school pupils took part in march pasts as part of the celebration while some also displayed cultural dances.
