Labour Denies Bribe Allegation Over Strike
The Leadership of the organised Labour in the state has denied the bribe allegation over the recent two day warning strike embarked upon by workers.
Speaking to The Tide, the state Chairman Trade Union Congress (TUC) Comrade Chika Onuegbu said the bribe allegation were manufactured pies against the organised Labour Leadership in the state.
Comrade Onuegbu said “it is unfortunate that rather than profer solution to the labour issues which the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC have clearly articulated in the ultimatum letter, they are alleging we collected bribe to embark on the warning strike”.
He said “this is a pure manufactured lies against the labour leaders in the state. The union chairman said Labour leaders will not abdicate their duties and responsibilities to the workers of the state for fear of being labeled or blackmailed.
He said the labour leaders should not be dragged into the murky waters of Rivers State politics.
The union boss said no amount of intimidation or desperate attempt to discredit the organised labour will derail the focus and objectives the organised labour stood for over the years. He said the welfare of the workers remain the priority of the labour in the stated.
