FAAN Inaugurates Health C’ttee For PH Airport
Authorities of the Port Harcourt International Airport Omagwa, on Tuesday inaugurated the Safety and Health Committee with a charge to ensure that the airport environment is clean, neat and tidy at all times.
The committee which is made up of members drawn from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Nigeria civil Aviation Authority, Port Health and Carhire Operators in the airport is mandated to enhance clean environment and promote good health.
Regional Manager South-South and South East Mrs Ebele Okoye advised all users of the airport to be safety conscious and pay attention to matters affecting their health.
Mrs Okoye said the issue of a safe and healthy environment should not be relegated to the background especially as the airport users are Nigerians and foreigners alike who deserve an environment that is neat and inviting.
She promised that FAAN was ready to give the committee full support in any area of its assignment, noting that the Port Harcourt International Airport places high premium on proper hygiene which would ensure that epidemics was not witnessed in the airport.
Responding, the Chairperson of the Committee Dr. Bolanle Olatunji, decried the nonchalant attitude of users of the airport with regard to safety, health and hygiene.
She urged the airport community to support the RGM in her bid to mark the Port Harcourt International Airport an airport of first choice in the country in terms of prompt service delivery.
Dr. Olatunji assured of the willingness of the Committee to discharge its duties with utmost sense of responsibility.
