Coach Tasks Media Over Publicity On Lesser Sports

The Head Coach, Lagos State Badminton Association (LSBA), Benjamin Orakpo, has urged the media to give more publicity to lesser sports to enhance their development in the country.

Orakpo told newsmen  in Lagos that too much concentration on developed sports like football had affected the growth of the so-called lesser ones.

“Lesser sports in the country have been faced with low media coverage; the incident has been working against the awareness creation of these sports.

“The truth is that all sports have potential to medals for Nigeria, but they are not getting the actual attention required and are not given the same opportunity like football.

“The unequal attention has affected the interest of the coaches and athletes of such sports which in turn had contributed immensely to the slow pace of their development,’’ he said.
