As the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State lingers, the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has warned against possible sinister moves to put the state in jeopardy.

The Rivers State chairman of the CNPP, Deacon Princewill Enyi who gave the warning in an interview also condemned the crisis, advising that those instigating it should consider that Rivers State is above any individual or group, and should employ dialogue in the resolution of conflicts.

Deacon Enyi further warned that if the party fails to reach an understanding on the matter, the CNPP would have no choice than to seek other legitimate means to protect the nation’s nascent democracy.

According to him, CNPP, as an umbrella body of all registered political parties, is not comfortable with the crisis which it warns may snowball into the activities of other political parties if not properly handled.

“Rivers State is bigger than any political party. This is why we want them to quickly resolve their crisis which we considered as an internal problem”, he said.

The CNPP also urged the Nigeria Police Force to respect the court order and move out of the Obio/Akpor Local Government council premises.
