Appreciate Our Acheivement, NFF Tells Nigerians
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFA) has called on Nigerians to focus more on what it had achieved since it assumed office barely three years ago.
The General Secretary of NFA,Musa Amadu, said such disposition was imperative as the Golden Eaglets finished the African U-17 championship as runners-up against the expectation of many Nigerians.
The team’s 4-5 penalty loss to the Baby Elephants of Cote d’ Ivoire, did not go down well with the country’s football fans.
Many had expected the team to win the championship but were disappointed at the outcome of the keenly contested match, which had ended 1-1 at full time.
Amadu, however, said that the NFA’s achievements should not be based only on the eventual outcome of competitions.
He noted that the recent performances of the country’s national teams in competitions were also part of the achievements of the current NFA leadership.
“It actually shows that the Federation is working.
“Not only have we been able to win the African Cup of Nation with the senior national team, it shows that our young teams can also be reckoned with.
“We are the only African nation to have qualified for all these continental competitions. I just want people to look at the achievements and know that we are working hard,’’ Amadu said.
