Tech Director: ‘Amodu’s Emergence, Good Dev’
A former Media Officer of the Super Eagles, Colin Udoh, has described the appointment of Shuaibu Amodu as the new Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), as a welcome development.
Udoh told newsmen in Lagos that the former Super Eagles Head Coach had the requisite experience needed to revamp the country’s football development.
It would be recalled that the NFA Technical Committee had interviewed some notable football coaches like Amodu, Fatai Amoo, James Peters and Kashimawo Laloko, for one post or the other last week.
Speaking further on the process through which Amodu was appointed, Udoh said that Amodu’s appointment did not come to him as a shock, in spite of the absence of other qualified candidates.
“Well I am not surprised that some notable coaches were not called up for interview, the question we should ask is whether they applied for the post. I think the NFA can only invite those that applied.
“If I am to rank those that participated in the interview, I will still rate Amodu as my number one, followed by Peters; Laloko will be a very distant third for obvious reasons.
“I’m sure that given all the logistics and support, Amodu will perform, his record speaks for him as a coach, so I believe that he will deliver,’’ Udoh added.
On his expectations from the newly-appointed Technical Director, Udoh said that he expects the institution of a robust blueprint to revamp the country’s football development.
“Well, those that applied are aware of the task ahead; they know that the country’s football development is currently at its lowest ebb.
“Therefore, there is much to be done and the sooner Amodu realises that, the better for our football,’’ the former Super Eagles media officer added.
