RSG Holds Road Show On Gender Advocacy

The Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications has hinted of plans to organise a road show to sensitise the public on gender-related issues.

The programme is being put together by the Gender Advocacy Project, a unit of the ministry saddled with the duty of promoting gender issues and raising public awareness.

A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry through Rufus Direh, the exercise will hold tomorrow with a road show that will commence at St. Andrew’s Primary School, Mile 1, Diobu and terminate at the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Top government functionaries, women groups and professional bodies, including non-governmental bodies and youth groups are expected to participate in the exercise.

Media organizations are also expected to partner with the government in project and sensitizing members of the public on gender-related issues as part of the one-day advocacy programme.

Meanwhile, the Micro Projects Programme 9 (MPP9) implementation says it is now set to launch nineth phase of the programme in Port Harcourt.

A statement signed by the commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Gogo Levi Charles said the event will hold at the Rivers State House of Assembly Auditorium tomorrow at 9.00am.

It further stated that the state governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi will serve as chief host while the minister of national planning, Dr Shamsudeen Usman, among others, are expected to attend the occasion.
