Police Decry Abduction Of Briton In Abia
The Divisional Police Officer in Ngwa Police Division, Mr Chris Kpatuma, last Monday held a meeting with traditional rulers in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State over the renewed wave of kidnapping in the area.
Speaking on ways to reduce the crime, Kpatuma decried the rising wave of kidnapping in the area, saying that the development was attracting bad image to Aba and Abia State.
He expressed displeasure over the recent abduction of one Miss Uchechi Nora Mectel, a Briton at Umunkiri community in Obingwa, saying that the police had intensified effort to rescue her.
“We are not happy about the abduction of this lady. We are working with other sister security agencies to not only ensure that she was rescued but to also arrest her abductors.”
Kpatuma appealed to the traditional rulers to sensitise their subjects on the need to volunteer useful information that would help the police to rid the area of undesirable elements.
“I appeal to you our royal fathers to sensitise your subjects on the need to give useful information that will assist the police in the arrest of kidnappers, terrorising the people in the area,’’ he said.
The Chairman of the Obingwa Traditional Rulers Council, Chief Eze Ikpeazu, assured the police maximum support and said that their subjects would be mobilised to assist the police in ridding the area of criminals.
