Plumber Faces Prosecution Over Breach Of Building Contract
A plumber at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja has been arraigned before an Abuja Magistrates Court for alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating in a house maintenance job.
The Plumber, Mr Chigozie Anakor, aged 23 years, with no traceable address was said to have received the sum of N60,000 to carry out repair work on water pipes in the house of one Cecilia Don on April 1st, 2013.
Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Philips Apollos told the court that Cecilia Don who is an Assistant Supretendent of Police (ASP) Jabi Barracks reported the mater at Life Camp Police Station in Abuja where investigations were carried out.
According to the police prosecutor, “The complainant gave the sum of N60,000 to the accused to repair water pipes in her house at Masaka in Nasarawa State”.
“The accused purchased sub-standard materials, did a shoddy job and converted the remaining money to his personal use”, he stated.
Apollos further added that the offence contravened Section 312 and 322 of the Panel Code.
Section 312 states that “whoever commits Criminal breach of trust shall be punished with imprisonment with a term which may extend to seven years imprisonment or with an option of fine or both”.
It would be recalled that an Estate Agent was also arraigned in court along side her accomplice who is a hotelier for duping a house seeker in Abuja to the tune of N1.25 million, last week.
