The Port Harcourt City Local Government Council has donated ten Hilux patrol vehicles to the Rivers State Police Command for effective policing in the state.
Presenting the patrol vehicles to the authorities of the State Police Command during a brief ceremony held at the Council Secretariat, last Friday, the mayor of the Port Harcourt City local government council Hon Chimbiko Akarolo said the gesture was to complement the State Government efforts in crime fighting in the State.
Hon. Akarolo averred that the donation of patrol vans underscores his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the area was rid of criminal tendencies, assuring that his government would stop at nothing to make the area safe for economic activities.
According to him, all hands must be on deck to see that our society is free from all forms of criminalities adding that the responsibility of security can not be left in the hands of government alone.
“The responsibility of security can be left for Federal and State Governments alone, but as a Council we will contribute to the security of life and property in the area” he added
