As kidnapping, armed robbery, bomb blasts, terrorism, among other crimes, continue to claim the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent Nigerians without any form of solution in sight, President, Goodluck Jonathan has been advised to demonstrate courage and capacity to tackle the alarming insecurity threat in Nigeria.

A chieftain of Action Congress of Nigeria, (ACN), in Enugu state, Dr. Ben Nwoye, who gave the advice in Enugu, last Thursday while reacting to the recent murder of ex- deputy Governor of Anambra state, Dr. Chudi Nwike, in a cold blood by yet to be identified gunmen in the area, described the death of the well known politician as a great loss not only to Igbo land but the opposition party and the country at large.

According to him, the federal government under the leadership of president Jonathan had done little or nothing to address the present insecurity in the land which had already claimed the lives of thousands of innocent Nigerians, especially those living in the Northern part of the country.

He lamented that Dr. Nwike, who was deputy to former governor of Anambra state, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, between 1992-1993, under the defunct Social Democratic party (SDP), was also the South East Vice Chairman of (CAN), until his sudden demise last Monday.

“How long shall we continue to watch our fellow innocent brothers and sisters being slaughtered like chicken in various parts of the country just because of PDP bad leadership? he asked .

“Only recently, a serving commissioner of police was murdered in Enugu state, the other time it was the principal secretary of an incumbent governor, and now it is a former deputy governor of a state,” he stressed.
