NSC Releases Guidelines For Federations’ Elections

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has released the schedule for elections into the boards of non-concessioned sporting federations.

A release in Abuja signed by the Special Adviser to the Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, Julius Ogunro, said that the zonal elections would hold in April and the national elections in May.

The release said the collection of nomination forms would hold from April 10 to April 15.

It advised all interested aspirants to collect their forms and submit them to the national offices of their federations from April 16 to April 17.

“The screening of aspirants and the announcement of preliminaries list of qualified candidates will hold on April 19.

“Petitions and appeals arising from screening by aggrieved aspirants will hold between April 20 and April 24 in Abuja,” the statement said.

It said that the zonal elections would hold on April 30 at the headquarters of the six geo-political zones of the NSC – Ibadan, Benin, Enugu, Kaduna, Jos and Bauchi.

The statement added that the elections for the positions of President and Vice-President of the various sports federations would hold in Abuja on May 14.

It said that the swearing-in of all elected officers would hold on May 17 after all appeals or petitions arising from the elections would have been treated.
