The maiden edition of the U-15 Youth Inter-Club Sports Competition for North-Central Zone One of the National Sports Commission (NSC) will hold from April 24 to April 27.

A statement issued by the Commission’s Director of Press, Tony Ohaeri, quoted the Zone One Co-ordinator, Caleb Gidado, as saying that the competition would hold at the Rayfield Sports Complex, Jos.

The statement said the theme of the competition and symposium is “Organisation and administration of sports clubs in schools and communities’’.

It added that the symposium was meant for Games Masters and Mistresses as well as for local government sports officials.

The statement quoted Gidado as saying that the programme was geared towards exposing youths under the ages of 15 to competitive sports in a bid to catch them young and thereafter groom them to stardom.

“The programme also seeks to update the knowledge and skills of Games Masters and Mistresses and local government sports officials in the formation and administration of sports clubs.

It enjoined the participating schools within the region to form under-15 sports clubs and enter them for the competition.

“Schools that do not have existing sports clubs are advised to register the team in the name of the school.’’

The statement said the competition would feature athletics, taekwondo, chess, table tennis and volleyball events.
