The National Population Commission (NPC) yesterday said that the next national census scheduled for 2016 may not hold if issues of professional delineation of enumeration areas and geo-political digital maps of the two hundred localities in Nigeria are not provided.

Speaking in Abuja while playing host to the Director-General of the International Organisation of Migration, the Chairman of the commission, Eze Festus Odimegwu said the issues of population census in Nigeria has always been a contentious one.

He stressed the need for effective tracking, recording and imputing of migration data that will form part of the nation’s vital registration infrastructure to ensure real time accuracy and data sustainability.

Director-General of the International Organisation on Migration, Ambassador William Swing, however advised the commission to address issues of migration in order to produce an accurate population census.
