Minister Tasks Athletes On Discipline, Patriotism
The Minister of Sports, Mr Bolaji Abdullahi, has urged Team Nigeria to demonstrate patriotism and discipline in their outings.
Abdullahi, accompanied by Mr Alhassan Yakmut, Director of Grassroots development at the National Sports Commission, briefed the athletes on the country’s expectations from them.
“Talent is no longer enough, sports has gone scientific. You must bring discipline back into your life.
“If you have commitment and say I want to be among the world best, then you need all discipline,” he said.
He expressed confidence that Team Nigeria could excel at the championships, saying they should take the championships serious.
“I have no doubt that you can do it. There is a life for you in sports whether it is hurdles or throws,” he said.
