The Imo Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr Charles Onuoha, has restated the determination of the state government to complete 200 kilometres of roads before the end of the year.

Onuoha told newsmen in his office in Owerri last Wednesday that most of the roads were at various stages of completion and urged the people of the state to be patient with the government.

He said the inauguration of the community government council in the state would kick-start and strengthen development, especially in the area of road construction and agriculture.

The commissioner described agriculture and road construction as the cardinal programme of the government which should be embraced by all and sundry.   He noted that apart from providing fertilisers at subsidised rates, the government would also provide loans to farmers to enable them to produce enough foods for the people.    Onuoha urged the communities to pay their counterpart funds for them to access the loans provided by the government.   Governor Rochas Okorocha had recently made a provision of N1 million loan to any community that pays its counterpart fund of N200,000.
