HOS Assures Workers Of Welfare
The Rivers State Head of Service (HOS), Barrister Samuel LongJohn, has assured workers of adequate welfare to enable them render optimum service to the State.
Barr. LongJohn gave the assurance while addressing members of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) during a Health Walk as part of activities marking the 2nd MHWUN Week.
The Head of Service, who said the interest and welfare of workers were uppermost on his agenda in ensuring efficient and effective service delivery, also stressed the need for harmonious working relationship between the government and labour unions in the State.
He said the only means to achieve this was to have regular dialogue to resolve any issue concerning the needs of workers.
“I want to say that for us to have a harmonious working relationship, we have to dialogue. Therefore, any day, at the shortest possible notice, my doors are open”, the Head of Service said.
He said issues that would have naturally given rise to misunderstanding had been amicably resolved through dialogue and solicited their cooperation in ensuring cordial relationship.
The head if Service assured them that resolutions reached at their Health Week would be passed on to the State Governor for consideration.
Earlier, while presenting a copy of the Resolution to the Head of Service, the State Chairman of MHWUN, comrade Beatrice Itubo commended the State Governor for providing free health care services and state-of-the-art health facilities.
She also requested for appointment of qualified health professionals to suitable positions rather than only Medical Doctors to head health facilities as well as ensuring uniform salary in all tiers of the health care delivery system in the state.
