Govt Warns Against Erection Of Illegal Structures
The Nasarawa State Government has warned people whose structures were demolished recently along the Abuja-Keffi dual carriage way to desist from re-erecting them.
Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media and Press Affairs, Malam Sani Musa, to the Nasarawa State Governor, Umar Al-Makura who made this known to Journalists in Lafia, said that the governor is determined to ensure that no structure being demolished along the Abuja-Keffi dual carriage way is re-erected.
He said “The demolition exercise is a continuous process until the greater Karu area regains its beauty, government will not relent in its effort in ensuring that this is achieved.
The Media Assistant to the Governor also explained that the exercise would be extended to some major towns in the state to rid them of shanties, slums and make shift shops that often contributed to traffic gridlock along major roads.
He said that the government could not fold its arms and watch few individuals build structures that violated laid down regulations in the state.
The governor’s spokes- man also explained that many people have turned the Abuja-Keffi dual carriage way to a refuse dump, especially in Mararaba, Ado, New Nyanya, Masaka and Kuchika, pointing out that Governor Al-Makwra is displeased with such indiscriminate dumping of refuge in these areas.
He therefore warned that the present administration in Nasarawa State would deal decisively with anyone caught dumping refuse along the high way as it was an environmental hazard, especially now that the rains had started.
According to him, “Government spends huge amounts of money virtually every day in evacuating heaps of refuse along Abuja-Keffi expressway, this situation would no longer be tolerated by government”.
