Farmers, Herdsmen’s Court Handle 34 Cases
The Jigawa State Special Farmers/Herdsmen Mobile Court has said yesterday in Dutse that it had recorded 34 cases in the last one year.
This is contained in a statement signed by Malam Abbas Wangara, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the court.
Wangara said that the court had successfully disposed of 24 cases while 11 cases were pending.
He explained that the court had so far visited 80 farmlands in its resolve to treat the recorded cases.
“It is observed that the police in some parts of the state do not normally report or refer matters involving farmers and herdsmen to this special court.
“This accounted for the court’s record of only 34 cases out of which 18 came from Guri Police Division,” the statement said.
Wangara added that the court was established in 2012, under the Jigawa State farmer-herdsmen law of 1998, to enhance the resolution of cases and deal with incessant farmers’ and herdsmen crises.
