Elechi Endorses LG Boss For 2nd Term
Ebonyi State Governor Martin Elechi last Friday endorsed Chief Lazarus Ogbee, the Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area of the state, for a second tenure in office.
Ogbee from the Izzikworo Clan of the area is seeking re-election during the council polls scheduled for October, 2013.
Elechi made the declaration at Onueke, headquarters of the council, during an Appreciation Tour of the area organised by the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“The chairman has performed well so far, as he needs the support of all to succeed further.
“He and the coordinators of the area’s development centres have stepped down democratic dividends to the doorsteps of the people and this deserves commendation.
“This overall, is a clear departure from the happenings of the past as all relevant stakeholders from the federal to the development centre level are now cooperating to develop the state,” he said.
According to the governor, the people of the area must be commended for maintaining their stand even when hounded by the opposition during the 2011 general elections.
“Though I lost here during the elections, I am still proud of you for your numerous struggles during the period even at the expense of your lives.
“Despite the electoral loss here and Ezza North Local Government, we still continued executing projects that will impact positively on the lives of the people,” he said.
He expressed concern about the spate of violence recorded in the area, especially during the elections and admonished the people on violence.
Also, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr Chukwuma Nwazunku, urged the people to support the chairman’s second term bid as he had performed tremendously in office.
“I don’t care what others might feel, but the chairman had shown that he deserves another term in office to continue enhancing the peoples’ lives.
In his response, Ogbee said he was inspired by the governor’s developmental strides aimed at enhancing the people’s well-being.
“We have constructed several roads, culverts and bridges across the communities in the area and also touched lives in the areas of health, agriculture, education, human development, among others,” he said.
