Ebonyi Begins Training For 2014 NSF
The Director, Ebonyi State Sports Council, Emma Utobo last Friday said the council had commenced a ‘Build-Up-Programme’ for resounding outing at the 2014 National Sports Festival (NSF) in Calabar.
Utobo told newsmens in an interview, that the state would shock Nigerians with impressive and surprise performances at the next biennial event.
“I am very sure of getting the best in Calabar. With the ongoing Build-Up Programme of the state’s sports council; we will have an impressive performance at the forthcoming festival. “To improve on our performance at Eko 2012, we are committed to grassroots’ sports growth to shock the country at the next festival. Our coaches and athletes are now very busy.
“So, as part of our efforts to improve the state’s sports profile, we have directed all the primary and secondary schools to regularly observe the annual inter-house sports competitions. “Of course, this is the way to sports transformation as students who have sports talents will be identified and nurtured to take up careers in sports, “ the director said.
According to him, coaches have been sent across all schools in the state to fish out award-winning talents in different sports.
Utobo added that already established talents were currently undergoing developmental programmes across the state.
He said that the programmes were to establish the talents to be able to represent the state in national and international competitions.
