Commissioner Tasks Christians On Love, Sacrifice
The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, has advised Christians to imbibe the virtues of love and sacrifice for one another.
Mrs Sementari who said this during the 10th Easter Choral Festival organised by the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation last Monday in Port Harcourt said that Easter was a season of love and sacrifice.
The Commissioner commended the management of the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation (RSBC) for sustaining the festival in the last ten years and expressed the hope that other agencies and parastatals of the ministry would develop programmes that define their diversity.
Also speaking, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Sir G.T.G Toby described the resurrection of Christ as the greatest event in history, stressing that it was what distinguished Christianity from other religions.
Sir Toby also said that the resurrection was a charge to all Christians to take the work of evangelism seriously and commended the management of Radio Rivers for using the festival to propagate the ideals of Christianity.
The Amanyanobo of Opobo Kingdom, HRM King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, who was the royal father of the day, said that he was happy to be associated with the festival since its inception ten years ago.
The traditional ruler said that hymns connect us to God and commended the corporation for improving on every edition of the programme.
Earlier, the General Manager of the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation, Miss Medline Tador described this year’s event as unique as it was used to showcase one of their staff, Mr. Barido Sika who won the Ladi Lawal best sports journalist of the year 2012.
