Commissioner Charges Association On Dev

The Rivers State Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon Charles Okaye, has called on the new leadership of Edogh Abuan Development Association, known as “the Voice” to be focus driven in other to actualise its visions and dreams.

The commissioner made the call during the inauguration of the nine-man executive at the County State School playground, last Friday.Represented by this Personal Assistant, Mr  Fubara B. Joel, he urged the executive to work as a team and avoid politicising, the vision of the association adding that the goals for which the association was formed might be futile if there were factions among the leaders.

The commissioner stated that the state government had set up committee under the ministry to monitor the status of schools in various local government areas in the state and assured that the ministry would partner with the association at all times.

Also speaking, the Secretary, State Boundary Commission and the Chairman of the occasion, Barrister ThankGod George Ekine stated that Abua Kingdom was in dire need of courageous leaders that would defend the ethos of the area,  as well as leaders with integrity, whose vision was to improve the masses and bring about the needed development in the area.

According to him, the area has been without a credible voice for long adding that the people must rise us to blow their trumpet in other to reach the expected destination in the state.

Barrister Ekine stated that it is high time the people of Abua ethnic Nationalities start promoting the virtues of the area adding that a people without a voice is like a nation conquered and subjugated.

In his acceptance speech, the president of the association, Dr Ela George Mathew assured that the new leadership will live up to expectation and called on the support from all the people in the area.
