AYC: Flying Eagles Clinch Bronze In Algeria

The Nigeria’s Under-20 national team, the Flying Eagles beat their Malian counterparts 2-1 to clinch the bronze medal at the Africa Youth Championship.

Nigeria finished in third place courtesy of a brace from Aminu Umar.

Umar struck in the 72nd minute after he chipped in a rebound from Ajagun’s earlier effort. He increased Nigeria’s lead ten minutes later with a penalty after he was fouled in the box.

Tiekoro Keita scored for Mali in the 87th minute, but the Malian Eaglets were unable to create an upset.

Umar is the highest goal scorer at the Africa Youth Championships with four goals.

His closest rivals are the Egyptian duo of Hamid Mahmoud and Ebenezer Assifuah who have three goals apiece.
