Notwithstanding the crisis currently rocking the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), it is not going to merge with any political party in respect of the 2015 general election in the country.

The newly elected National Chairman of APGA, Chief Maxi Okwu, who made this known Tuesday in a chat with newsmen said that the party can only talk of alliance with other political parties as the constitution of the party is not in support of any form of merger with another party.

According to him, in spite of the current crisis, the party can still go it alone during the 2015 general election, pointing out that hundreds of thousands of members and supporters of the party “are still loyal” to APGA and the newly elected leadership of the party with himself as national chairman.

Asked to express his feelings on the successful conduct of the national congress of the party held Sunday night in Awka, the Anambra State capital where he emerged as national chairman, Chief  Okwu further said: “What is happening today is like a soldier who went to war and came back alive from the war front”.

Also using the forum to react to the Stay of Execution  on Monday granted by an Appeal Court in Enugu on a matter brought by counsel to the embattled former national chairman of APGA , Chief Victor Umeh, Chief Okwu quickly said: “The ruling was an exercise in futility. You cannot abort an already born baby”.   He, therefore, used the medium to call on Chief Umeh to come back to the fold if  he was still interested in APGA. I hereby extend my hands of fellowship to him”, he added.
