Amaechi Urges Fair Deal For Rivers …As PDP BOT Tours State
Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State has entreated the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to ensure an equitable treatment of all stakeholders to foster unity in the party.
Amaechi made the call when BOT of the PDP led by its Chairman and former Minister of Works, Chief Tony Anenih paid a visit to him in Government House yesterday in Port Harcourt, as part of the board’s nationwide tour of the states.
The governor said Rivers State gave the party the highest number of votes during the 2011 presidential elections with about 2 million votes cast.
Amaechi dismissed any discord in the party in Rivers State, saying,” we are members of the PDP and we will remain PDP’’.
He thanked Chief Anenih for visiting with other party chieftains including, National Deputy Chairman of PDP,Dr Sam Sam Jaja, Secretary of BOT, Senator Wali Jibril, former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, Chief Ebenezer Babatope , Alhaji Baraje and Alabo Graham-Douglas, among others.
Chief Anenih, on his part, said the visit was aimed at discussing issues of national importance and corporate existence of the country,including, “ things that will make the system and PDP stronger and make us live in a decent society’’.
The former minister lauded Amaechi, whom he described as a leader and strong member of the PDP considering his contributions and achievements to transform Rivers State and wished him well.
In his remarks later, Deputy Chairman of PDP in Rivers State, Dagogo Eli Legg-Jack described Anenih as the grandfather of the party and reiterated that the party was one and would remain one in Rivers State.
