Amaechi Tasks Youths On Peace, Dev

The Rivers State Government has charged youths to cultivate ideas that promote peace and development in the society.

Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi gave the charge at Ahoada, recently  headquarters of Ahoada East Local Government Area while  open a zonal sensitisation workshop to youths in the Rivers West Senatorial zone organised by the Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development.

The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon Samuel Eyiba, said the government had embarked on programmes aimed at redirecting the youths to productive ventures.

He listed some of the programmes to include, the construction of model primary schools across the state, the primary healthcare programme and others, urge the youths to tap into the workshop to improve themselves.

In his address, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Sir Owene Wonodi said  the workshop was organised to eradicate poverty and promote financial freedom for the teeming unemployed youths in the state.

According to him, the greatest problem confronting Rivers youths today, was lack of relevant information, stressing that the workshop was meant to bridge the gap to enable them avail themselves of the boundless opportunities in the economy.

Sir Wonodi also said that government would continue to create the enabling environment for them to actvalise their dreams and urged them to maximise their potentials and collaborate with the state Government to achieve economic self reliance.

The commissioner for women Affairs Mrs Joeba West who was in the ceremony, urged youths to be crusaders for peace.

She also urged them to look up to role models and mentors who can positively affect their lives.
