19th NSF: C’River Commences Preparation

The Cross River   State Sports Commission has  said it had commenced renovation of facilities for the hosting of the 19thNational Sports Festival (NSF) scheduled for 2014 in Calabar.

The State Director of Sports, Jude Amadi, told newsmen at the weekend that the state was determined to host a world-class biennial tournament.

“The state will ensure that all facilities are at their best for the festival scheduled for 2014 in Calabar.

“According to our time-line, we will devote this year to the upgrading, construction and renovation of facilities for the festival.

“We in Cross River are meticulous when it comes to executing projects, that is why we have started in advance to ensure that the event will be a grand one”.

Amadi said that the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar was recently upgraded to include an ultra-modern electronic video-matrix scoreboard, with impressive flood lights to illuminate matches slated for evenings.

The director assured participants of an enabling environment, which would enhance optimum performance during the festival.
