A renowned grassroots football developer in the State, Prince Uche Umejuru, has said that Super Eagles would make an appreciable impact in the 2014 World Cup to be hosted by Brazil.

Umejuru told sportswriters in an interview in Port Harcourt that Nigeria has come of age in football, having performed marvelously well at the just-concluded Africa Nations Cup in South Africa which according to him, is a preparatory ground ahead of the big competition coming up in Brazil.

“Unarguably, the present squad of the Nigerian team that won the Nations Cup in South Africa are good, therefore, I stand to be challenged that if they could be retained, perhaps  with the injection of one or two players, the Eagles team will not only qualify for the  2014 World Cup, but will go far in the competition when it finally hots up in Brazil.

He, however, called on Nigerians to continue to support the Eagles team, having seen that the rejuvenated Eagles led by Coach Stephen Keshi are determined to win more laurels for the country.

It would be recalled that Nigeria who crashed out of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa in the first round will now be playing alongside Namibia, Malawi and Kenya in the same group of the 2014 World Cup qualifier.
