TIMARIV Wants RSG To Pay Staff Salaries
The Rivers State Traffic Management Authority (RIMARIV), has appealed to the state government to take over the payment of staff salaries of the Authoirty.
The Controller General of TIMARIV Mr Nelson Jaja who made the appeal in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt said that the takeover of the salaries would ensure better welfare for staff as well as reposition the agency for higher productivity.
Mr Jaja said that the situation would also help the Agency to attend to other needs including motivating workers to drastically check the flagrant abuse of traffic laws in the state.
“I am begging the state government to take over the monthly salaries like other civil servants so that every month their salaries would be settled also.
“I have begged the commissioner for transport we made representation to the commissioner for budget and economic planning and finance respectively. They are looking into it” he said.
On the issue of corruption the controller general denied that the Agency is corrupt, but added that the grants from the state government had never been sufficient enough to address the many financial challenges of the Agency, adding that a lot of other related financial needs of the agency have always suffered serious setbacks.
“What we have from the governor is just to keep us running by paying staff salaries and run some operations which we try to do.
“Under this condition I am determined as long as I’m in TIMARIV to be innovative in management of the affairs of TIMARIV” he said.
Mr Jaja also used the occasion to dismiss the allegation of financial recklessness leveled against him.
