An Abuja Senior Magistrate Court last Wednesday sentenced Charles Ukhuedobah, 32, Abdullahi Saka, 32 and Paul Okeli, 36, of no fixed address to six months in prison for joint act and impersonation.

The three men were former Nigeria Police officers.

Senior Magistrate Hauwa Aliyu gave the sentence without an option of fine after they pleaded guilty to the charges.

The accused, during police investigations, were found to have been dismissed from the Nigeria Police between 2003 and 2010 for various disciplinary offences.

Police Prosecutor, ASP Usman Jibrin told the court that the accused persons with one other, now at large, raised a fake signal (letters of deployment), posting them from their former Police Command to Niger State Command.

Jibrin said that the purported letters of deployment were dated July 14, 2012 for the first accused; June 6, 2012 for the second accused and September 27, 2012 for the third accused.

He said that the offence contravened sections 79 and 132 of the Penal Code.
