RSG Begins Construction Of Water Pumping Stations
The Rivers State Government has commenced the construction of small town water projects with six kilometer reticulation in Eberi-Obioha and a 50,000 gallon of water pumping station in Amaji/Ohim Oyoro all in Omuma local government of the state.
The special assistant to the Governor on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Mr Desire Bobmanuel, said this while fielding questions from journalists in Port Harcourt, recently.
Bobmanuel, said the water project with six reticulation in Bori and construction of 50,000 gallon of pumping station in Bane in Khana local government are also on course.
While Ngo Town in Andoni local government will have 50,000 gallon of pumping station with five kilometer reticulation, Kalaibiama in Bonny local government will have 30,000 pumping station with five kilometer (km) reticulation.
Emohua, Degema, Tombia, Bakana, will also enjoy 50,000, 30,000 pumping stations with five kilometer reticulation each.
The Governor’s MDGs Special Assistant, said the contractors are expected to deliver within eight weeks from the date of handover as to meet its target.
He also called on the contractors to take advantage of the day season to enable them beat set goals, and as well, deliver on the expected date.
He hinted that the state is already celebrating the achievements of the MDGs in the areas of Health, Education, water and sanitation, while calling on Rivers people to continue to support the Amaechi-led government for the delivery of more people oriented projects.
The chairman of Khana local government council, Hon Gregory Nwidam and his Omuma colleagues, Hon John Anucha who witnessed the handover ceremony in their different LGAs, thanked the Governor for providing water for the people, and promised to sustain the projects.
