Powerlifters Set For British Beach Tourney

Secretary, Nigeria Professional Powerlifting Association (NPPA), Peter Oluwo said that six powerlifters would represent the country at the British Bench Press Tournament in Ashington, England.

Oluwo told Tidesports in Lagos that the athletes were prepared to compete in the tournament holding from March 9 through 11.

“Six of our professional Powerlifters have been selected to represent the country at the annual British Bench Press Championship in Ashington.

“They have been preparing for this competition for the last three months and I believe they are ready to compete with their foreign counterparts,’’ he said.

He said that the athletes would depart the country on Thursday night for the competition.

According to him, the powerlifters are being sponsored by Francmac Global Resource Ltd, a Lagos-based Oil and Gas Company.

He added that the championship would be the first international competition that the athletes would attend in 2013.
